In the beginning, I was skeptical of the simple rakhi designs homemade because they were supposed to be the “quick fix” solution for all my problems. They just kind of looked like a bunch of random shapes. But as I looked at them, I realized that the shapes were actually actually really basic shapes that had been put together to form a pattern.
The thing that got me thinking about building a rakhi design in the end was the fact that many of the designs look like they’re supposed to be “slim,” or “scalloped” designs. The more complex rakhi designs have always had a “scalloped” look, so it’s the more complicated designs that are going to have a rakhi look.
That’s why I think it’s so interesting that the rakhis are so complex, and so different from their siblings-in-law rakhis. And it’s another reason why we don’t see rakhis in families. Because the rakhis are supposed to be slim and curved, and we don’t see the like the other rakhis, but instead the ones we see are much more angular, flatter, and more flat.
You can see the difference in the rakhis’ complex curves by seeing them in a rakhi that has a round face, like the one shown above. Its easy to see the sharp points, but the round face means the circular lines aren’t as crisp, so the contrast between the rakhi and the rest is much less.
The design in this shot is an example of how simple rakhis can look. We saw the same design in a rakhi that had a curved face (shown above). When you see the same design, its easy to see the difference in the rakhis complex curves, but the rakhi shown above has much more angular shapes.
Rakhis are generally made from a lot of recycled fabric and metals. The difference between the rakhis shown here is that the rakhis shown above are made with a lot of effort. Some of them were hand made, while others were made with a lot of help from the local metal shop. They are also often cut in a particular shape, so they will be pretty much the exact same shape and size.
