It doesn’t make a difference that I have a degree in this field. I just do have a degree, and there is nothing you can do about it.
A lot of teachers have degrees, but most of us don’t have the time to train ourselves to be a better teacher. So why not give it a try? Here are some things you can do to improve your teaching skills.
First, recognize that there are no shortcuts. Every teacher has the same set of material to teach. I have been a teacher for over twenty years, and I do not feel like I was taught the same material as other teachers for the last five years. So take the time to study the material and the teaching methods of your teachers.
The next thing to do is read the syllabus of the class. I always look for these books, and they are the most important thing to do because the syllabus is the book that tells the teacher what you have learned so you can use this information in your teaching.
As much as it can be annoying to some, it is also important to read the syllabus of an entire course. This can help you understand what you need to do when you first start teaching, as well as what you need to do when you are no longer a teacher. One course I taught for six years, I made sure that I always read the syllabus, and this helped me better understand the material and the teaching methods I needed to use.

This is one of those tough lessons for most, if not all, students. It is hard to apply what you have learned to the real world, and when you do you might end up in a classroom that is much more fun to teach than your classroom. I think this is often the case for all of us who are new to teaching.
