With a little help from the Internet and a few easy recipes, I was able to make a new recipe that was easy to prepare and to share with family and friends. This is the kind of recipe that is always a hit at a dinner party with friends.

I’ve been experimenting with various dal that I’ve discovered over the years. While some of them work well in the kitchen, many of them were too oily for my taste. So I turned to Bhau, a traditional, spicy, dairy-free recipe from the northeast of India. It’s usually served with curries but here I’ve added a bit of the curry paste that I use to flavor the dal.
