allegheny general hospital internal medicine residency

I started a residency at Allegheny General Hospital – one of the largest hospitals in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania – in 2010. It was the first of over 50,000 new residency programs for internal medicine.

It was also the first time I’d had to talk to a lot of patients.

I’ve been the resident medical director for Allegheny General since late 2014; I also work as a medical assistant and physician assistant. The hospital is a large facility with several specialties. Some of the services offered here include trauma, urgent care, and internal medicine.

Allegheny General is a very large facility. It has five teaching specialties, three of which are internal medicine and three of which are general surgery. It has around 6,000 employees including 800 medical residents. Ive been doing internal medicine and general surgery residencies at Allegheny General since I started there in 2008. Ive also been a resident medical director with the hospital since it was founded in 2002.

What I’ve found is that there are a few benefits to being in a general medicine and surgery residency. They are very hands on, which is a plus for me. I get to see how to do procedures, and I get to see how to do procedures the correct way. I get to work with a lot of the best surgeons and anesthesiologists in all of medicine. I also get to see a lot of the top burn and trauma surgeons in the region.

The most important thing about a general medicine and surgery residency is to learn how to do everything you would want to do in a general practice. If you have a strong commitment to learning how to do everything you would want to do in a general practice, then you will always want to return. Ive found that this is especially true in my internal medicine residency.
